Nick’s Story

Nick’s Story

Nick is very nervous around animals (not dogs, etc but wild animals) but wants to participate in trips like the going to the zoo so he can see them. He asks a lot of questions about being safe such as whether the animals can escape. We try to explain and calm him down.

Some of the members were stroking the wallabies and Nick said he didn’t want to as he was scared. We offered him comfort and he said if Abbie stayed near him he would. He then stroked the Wallaby.

This was a big step for Nick as it showed him trying to get over his fear, being brave, being proud of his achievement and trusting in us that he was safe.

If someone asked me to do what i did (attending a networking fair – speaking to other businesses about Time Out) 2 years ago, there would have been no chance of me doing it. Time out has made me more confident than ever before…

I love being at Time Out
I have really felt at home and made some good friends
I have struggled with my behaviour sometimes but I relax now and am always learning and having fun. Staff and members are so supportive and so lovely. There is no need to be scared.

The Drama group is something to look forward to each week. Now I have found out they do it In Sandbach and Handforth.

Drama is relaxed and chilled out, we always have a great time. You don’t have to be good at acting, it is for all abilities.

I didn’t realise how much work went in to acting and things like making adverts. We have learnt about how you can warm up your voice and speak with confidence.

Nobody judges, it is a welcoming atmosphere.
