Have a Question?
What is it like volunteering for us?
Time Out Group staff and members are a friendly bunch! The group is welcoming and likes to have fun and socialise and get to know new people. All new volunteers are welcomed as part of the team.
What times and days can I volunteer?
We run sessions 6 days a week at the Hub in Handforth. We have roles for Activity Volunteers Monday – Saturday at various times of the day. We also have Community Volunteer roles in the community helping us promote the Charity and raise the vital funds we need!
Is there a minimum amount of time I need to volunteer for?
No. Any time that you can give to the group is welcome. Some activities happen every week whilst others are one-off events like community fundraising. As long as we know when to expect you – everything helps us.
What if I am ill or I am on holiday and can’t volunteer?
Our volunteers are part of our team. All we ask is that you give us plenty of notice if you can’t attend something you have agreed to come along to. Our sessions are all fully staffed by our trained Activity Coordinators.
Do I need any special skills to volunteer with Time Out Group?
No. If you enjoy chatting with people, have patience, and empathy, and are trustworthy, you will fit in well at Time Out Group. Experience in social care or community engagement would be an advantage but not essential.
Will I get any training?
Yes. We complete a comprehensive induction with all new volunteers. You also will receive support and training from support staff at sessions. We offer First Aid, Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, and other training and personal development opportunities throughout the year.
Will I be responsible for members at Time Out Group?
All sessions and activities at Time Out Group are supervised and run by our trained Support Staff.
Do you pay expenses?
Yes, by prior agreement we pay expenses for travel to and from Time Out Group activities as well as refreshments/meals while out with the group. These must be agreed in advance with the Volunteer Manager.
Will I have to give any Personal Care?
No – our staff and volunteers do not undertake any personal care for our members.
